Tim Kennedy - tenor, piano accompanist and organist

Piano Accompanist

Tim started the piano when he was just five, and the violin a year later, as well as being a boy treble at St George's Chapel, Windsor.  He now works as a freelance piano accompanist alongside his singing.  He therefore particularly enjoys accompanying and coaching singers, and has been praised for his empathy with them.  He is a staff repetiteur for the School of Vocal and Opera Studies at the Royal Northern College of music, working with a large number of promising young singers on a regular basis in classes and recitals. This comes after he spent two years training as the Junior Fellow in Vocal Accompaniment there, studying with the head of accompaniment, David Jones.  He is a registered accompanist member of the British and International Federation of Festivals, and has worked for them as official accompanist at a number of music festivals in the North of England, including Bowdon, Buxton, Hazel Grove, Chester, Burnley, Alderley Edge, Fleetwood and Cleethorpes.  He often accompanies singers and instrumentalists at Manchester University, and plays for auditions for the National Youth Choir each Autumn.

He is the rehearsal pianist for The Tatton Singers (Knutsford) and also a regular accompanist for rehearsals for Unlimited Voices.  For four years now he has been one of the staff accompanists for the solo singing course (CSSM: The Art of Singing) at Sherborne School, working with Ian Partridge, Julie Kennard and John Huw Davies.  He is a regular accompanist at Terra Nova School, where he taught singing and piano for a number of years.  He is often asked to make CDs of accompaniments for people to practice with.  If you would like him to play for your concert, examination, or audition, or just for the invaluable experience of working with a professional accompanist, then please do get in touch.
